Mom’s calling from downstairs, looks like day is startin’
Just catch her before she runs out the door. She’s shouting about what I need to do. Make sure my brother eats, make sure dishes are in the sink, lock up, buy bread, and be back before, and blah, blah, blah….
Okay house locked up, everything is off, we good.
Rayz just spotted me, and his homies are with him. Damn, I can’t let them take this money, we need it for the sandwiches for the week, otherwise no lunch.
His boys take my cash real quick, out the alley real quick too. Rayz shouts something, “Weak ass Bitch!!!” Like I don’t know or something. Whose weak ass needs two more people to rob me?
Mr. Chen, the pawn shop owner is looking over this time. Wonder if he liked the show.
Javie says that we outta check out the Pawn Shop by the crib.
He says that this morning he thought he saw some books with pictures on them about kungfu. One those basic intro books.
At the shop right now, Mr. Chen ain’t anywhere to be seen.
I can’t believe it, a book about Shaolin kungfu!!! On the South Side!!!
We start reading, man, it’s got it all! Instructions and pictures to go with them!!! In ENGLISH!!!
Just then we notice Mr. Chen is right behind us. When did that dude get there?
Says that when he was a kid in China, he used to see it in bookstores all the time. Said he remembered seeing it at his school once.
Left school little earlier today, gonna try and scope out the pawn shop as much as I can.
I’m gonna get that book one way or the other.
And then I’m gonna show Rayz what I’m all about!
